Fantastic opera recording with a stellar cast - meticulously led with tremendous passion by the new Music director of the New York Phil - Jaap Van Zweden. The Hong Kong Phil Have never sounded better! (Siegfried is out around about now and will be on next year's ballot!)

BEST ENGINEERED ALBUM, CLASSICAL  and

BEST OPERA RECORDING In the  CLASSICAL Field

After last year's excellent Torke, Corigliano, Copland CD - these fine young (I mean, really young!) musicians give a truly rousing performance of this great American music, including the adventurous Samuel Adams (resident composer, Chicago Symphony). James Ross brings the best out of them.

BEST ORCHESTRAL PERFORMANCE In the  CLASSICAL Field

This exciting album of great young talent (Pius Cheng, Trey Lee, Dan Zhu, Julian Schwarz, Yoobin Son, and more...) playing the music of one of America's foremost Chinese/American composers, Bright Sheng. A real interesting mix of flavours with Bright's unique style. It was all recorded in The US (New York) and Hong Kong.
